Honorable Mention — Field Guide
Indonesia Beaches
Indonesia has no national Blue Flag programme — these are our honorable mentions, not certifications. What it has instead is seventeen thousand islands of world-class sand and reef, from Bali's surf coasts to Raja Ampat, that any beach field guide would be poorer for ignoring.
A Blue Flag is awarded season by season for excellent bathing-water quality, safety, services, and environmental management — what a Blue Flag beach means explains the certification in full.

Field notes — quick answers
Does Indonesia have Blue Flag beaches?
No — Indonesia does not currently operate a national Blue Flag programme, so none of its beaches carry the certification. The beaches we map there are editorial honorable mentions, chosen on merit and clearly labelled as uncertified.
How current is this Indonesia beach list?
Certification is seasonal, so we track the 2026 season and update listings as national juries publish changes. Beaches that hold Blue Flag certification and uncertified "Certification Candidate" beaches are always labelled separately.
